Life in L.A. is all about making tough decisions….
….trying to decide what to wear on a first date with a wealthy and moderately famous guy is probably one of the toughest.
Me: Okay guys, how do I look?
I nervously asked Byron and Jimmy, standing in front of the door way of their shared master bedroom, with my hands held up.
The two boys were each lying on their twin beds, placed parallel to each other in nothing but their boxer briefs, stoned, watching Family Guy and laughing uproariously.
Byron and Jimmy were habitual pot smokers. Ironically, it was the only time when they weren’t habitually bickering.

And so the day we all anxiously waited for had finally arrived…..
…..move-in-day!
Me: Welcome home, boys!
I shouted, as I walked out of the front doorways of our new apartment building in West Hollywood.
Byron and Jimmy were outside on the sidewalk, sharing a cigarette and leaning against a U-Haul truck rental.
It was a bright, L.A. sunny Saturday afternoon in July. It was the perfect weather, fit perfectly for an exciting occasion!
Byron: Home sweet home!
He shouted back, extending his arms out wide with a huge smile on his face.

There is always a certain melancholy that we feel when preparing to close a certain chapter in our lives…..
And in that moment, we start to think of all the memories we have made, good and bad.
And then we can’t help but wonder…..WHAT’S NEXT?!
It was the question that lingered in my mind all afternoon as I was packing the last few remaining items in my apartment into boxes.

In fact, at times, it may even feel like the seasons of life change faster and evolve far more drastically than the actual seasons produced by Mother Nature.
But whether it is spring evolving into summer or our own lives shifting us from one era into another….we are reminded that nothing in life is permanent and we must learn to embrace any kind of change.
So as spring evolved into summer, in L.A., I was learning how to embrace the new era in my own life…..
